Question: I found an acupuncturist for my arthritic shoulder who says that I need to go three times a week. Is this many visits necessary in a given week? How often should I get acupuncture treatments?
Answer: I frequently treat my patients two or three times a week in the first few weeks. In China patients receive treatment daily. This would be optimal, but most people cannot fit daily treatment into their schedules. Acupuncture works best with frequent treatment in the beginning; after the treatments start holding longer, your practitioner will space your treatments out to be less frequent.
