Question from Carol: Hi, I asked you about the 24/7 chronic anxiety and nerve damage. You mentioned diet, what should I be eating? I have been eating a lot of protein with some fruit and little vegetables. I eat the protein cause I always feel hungry with this anxiety. Please help. What is the best diet for anxiety?
Answer: Hi Carol, I’m sorry I somehow missed this question and am delayed responding to you.
There is no one diet that is perfect for everyone, so it’s a little difficult to answer your question without knowing a little more about you and examining your pulse and tongue. For your symptoms, as they are described here, I would probably recommend you see a Chinese herbalist, as the severe hunger along with the anxiety indicate that diet alone may not solve this. I think you’re on the right track with eating lots of protein (be sure to include red meat and fish–if you’re only eating chicken, as so many women do, that will worsen these symptoms!). You should also be eating lots of vegetables with good quality fats like butter, coconut oil and olive oil. Avoid processed foods, sugar, polyunsaturated vegetable oils, and over-consumption of grains. I hope this helps!
